Solid State Logic Bus Comp Classic

The Solid State Logic Stereo Bus Compressor Module brings the G Series bus compressor circuit into an API 500 Series compatible format for engineers who want classic SSL mix bus compression in a modular studio system. Based on the Bus Compressor from the SL 4000 G Series console, it provides linked stereo dynamic control for full mixes, drum buses, instrument groups, and other stereo sources.G Series Compression for Stereo MixesThe module uses a classic dominant sidechain architecture. The left and right channels are independently detected, and the louder channel determines gain reduction for the overall stereo signal. This keeps compression coordinated across the stereo image while providing the punch and cohesion associated with the SSL G Series bus compressor.Expanded Ratio and Timing ControlSelectable ratio, attack, and release controls let engineers shape how the compressor responds to transients and sustained material. SSL adds 1.5, 3, and 10 ratio settings beyond the classic choices, while the Auto release setting provides program dependent recovery. Threshold and Make Up Gain use continuously variable controls for precise level adjustment.Keep Low Frequencies from Overdriving CompressionA selectable sidechain high pass filter offers 30 Hz, 60 Hz, 106 Hz, 125 Hz, and 185 Hz settings, plus Off. This lets engineers reduce the influence of low frequency energy on the detector when kick drums or bass would otherwise cause excessive gain reduction. An illuminated meter provides clear visual feedback of compression activity.
