Your dog lives to retrieve, so what better way to build that instinct into a reliable skill than with the Carhartt Training Retrieving Bumper. Unlike a ball or a stick, this bumper is shaped and weighted to simulate the dimensions and weight of an actual bird. Training your retriever to carry correctly, hold firmly without crushing, and deliver to hand the way a working gundog needs to perform in the field. The 1680-denier polyester exterior is bonded and reinforced for outstanding durability through session after session of hard use, and double stitching with strong nylon thread at every stress point means the bumper holds together through the kind of enthusiastic retrieving that working dogs put into every single throw. The sand-weighted base gives every throw momentum, distance, and a consistent arc so you can place the bumper exactly where you need your dog to go, while the two-ply nylon webbing handle provides a comfortable, secure grip for overhand, underhand, and long-cast throws across a field or into the water. Hunter Orange is the standard high-visibility training color that lets you track where the bumper lands in tall grass, heavy cover, and low-light field conditions so you can direct your dog without losing the throw. The rubber Carhartt label adds a branded grip point for the dog and helps build consistent carry recognition. This bumper is designed as a supervised retrieval training tool. Use it for throw-and-fetch training sessions rather than unsupervised chewing. Available in small (14.5" length, 5 oz) and large (18" length, 9 oz). Carhartt has been building workwear-grade gear since 1889. This bumper is built to the same standard for dogs that earn their rest by doing exactly what they were bred to do.
